New at The Fair

The Long Island Fair of 2003 is already shaping up to be one of our most exciting yet! Every year, there has been a growing number of entries in virtually every category of crafts, livestock, and produce, and this year is proving no exception.

The Long Island Fair is proud to welcome Yankee Notions to our growing list of new and exciting period entertainers.

"An acoustic folk music duo, Yankee Notions is comprised of Jim Douglas (vocals, guitar, and English concertina) and Tim Van Egmond (vocals, hammered dulcimer, tin whistle, and harmonica). They have been performing traditional and contemporary New England music in community concerts, festivals, libraries, and schools for more than twenty years.

Whether it's toe-tapping Irish and French Canadian tunes, rollicking sea shanties, tandem telling of a tall tale, an early 19th century musical ode to farming, or a contemporary song about the character and characters of New England, Yankee Notions always delivers on its promise to 'please the ear, enrich the mind, and enchant the heart.'"
